The program is specifically designed for middle & high school students (6th-12th grades) as a fun way to get their portraits taken by a professional photographer, feel like a model and just have a unique experience.
Students who apply are active on social media and are involved in school activities and their community. They have reliable transportation and have good time management skills to participate in 3 photo shoots a year.

I created the Student Model Program for a way to build my portfolio, but it quickly evolved into a program that focused on building confidence for young ladies and creating a fun experience during your middle and high school years. It also prepares you for your senior photos. No matter what photographer you hire, you'll be a pro with the confidence to shine!
Each photo shoot opportunity has a specific theme, which range from very simple to more complicated and artistic themes. Some are more for fun, other have specific purposes for myself, such as exploring new locations! I try to rotate themes as much as possible, but you'll find that some stay year after year.
I take great pride in the program and I only accept Students through an application process to make sure that those that join, are a good fit.

"Speciality" themes range from $30-$100 and you are not required to sign up for them. These are a mixture of more creative themes that require location fees, additional shooting time, special props, or creative editing.
Digital images are sold separately. Student Models will have the option to purchase either watermarked social media images or high resolution images with print rights.
The minimum $20 session fee covers my time photographing and editing.
The session fee does not include location fees or travel fees outside of Ionia County. Location & travel fees will be split up among participating Student Models and added to your session fee or are included in the "Specialtity" Themes.
The photoshoot fee is due at the beginning of each photoshoot (including your intro shoot).

The location varies per theme. They are mostly in Ionia, MI and surrounding areas like Saranac and Portland. Our "Speciality" themes include travel fees if outside of Ionia

You're welcome to do your hair and makeup as you feel comfortable or what fits the themes. Shoots don't require fancy up-dos or dramatic makeup and you don't need to go to a professional.

I accept student models from March- October every year. Students are welcome to apply for the program from September - March, but I will not be reviewing applications until March 1st. If you are accepted, you will be notified.

How do you use the images of Student Models?
Once accepted, your first shoot will be the Intro session. This is with a parent or other relative (11yrs or older) and a parent MUST be present for this shoot.
I want to build a trusting relationship with my Student Models and their parents. This is also used as an “ice-breaker” to help my Student Models feel comfortable in front of the camera and with my shooting style.
Pets, friends, or significant others are NOT allowed during the intro session.
