I have been offering Powder Dance sessions for almost 10 years. They are exclusively for dancers and cheerleaders to show off their moves and create unique images.

How it Works

We use baking flour, which can get very messy so we are in my backyard at night – after the sun sets. Being outside has been the easiest solution for cleanup and setting up. I use super bright lights on either side of a large black tarp. The tarp prevents grass from showing and the lights are powered through an extension cord from the house since they stay on during the session. We shoot after the sun sets because it provides a natural black backdrop.

Each client is given a prep list for their upcoming session. This includes what to wear, bringing an assistant, and what they need to bring to their session.

I also ask each dancer/cheerleader to bring a prepared list of moves or routine to show me before we start the session. This will show me what they are interested in doing and what they are capable of doing. A routine will provide unique images that they might not have thought of, but work well with the flour.

When my clients first arrive, I we walk together to the backyard and they are asked to stretch. They then show me jumps and moves that they can do, a routine, and any requests. When they do this, I usually record it on my phone to review and show them exactly what I’m looking for in the photo.

Powder Dance Session Cost

Each session is about 30 minutes long. The session fee is $50 and digital images are sold separately. 2-3 weeks after your session you’ll receive a gallery with 10-15 edited images and you only purchase what you love.

Powder Dance minis are only offered in the summer. June – August to be exact. At the end of August these are no longer available until the next year.

Mini Sessions

I also offer other tips of mini sessions throughout the year, such as cap and gown sessions, birthday shoots, group photos with friends, Prom or Homecoming, couples/engagement, etc.

All minis are $50 with a 10-minute session & 1 location. Images are purchased separately.
