The Glam the Night photoshoot was inspired by the idea of a girl’s night out or date night vibe. It’s basically all about dressing up like you’re going out with the girls or on a date. To complete it, we shoot at night in a downtown location. I personally love using all the places downtown Ionia, Michigan has to offer because it provides the perfect backdrops.

How it Works

In order to create these dynamic images, we have to shoot at night – just after sunset works best. I use specific lighting like flash or strobe light to light up my subject while keeping the rest of the background dark.

Each Student Model meets me at different parts of downtown, usually in front of businesses since they are easily found. Then we walk around a small area to find interesting textures and colors that pair well with the outfits. I also want to make sure that the areas we use are interesting enough to create that dynamic/edgy feel.

Glam the Night Outfits

The student models were given this Pinterest Board to help with their outfits. To get the look we need for Glam the Night, they are allowed to get dressed up using their homecoming dresses or they can wear something more casual. The best results are when they combine the two styles. All things sequins, sparkles, and accessories (like a jacket) are 100% welcome!
