Cupid’s Day: A Valentine’s Day Photo Shoot
The “Cupid’s Day” theme was a special addition to my Student Model Program, designed to celebrate Valentine’s Day while offering a unique and fun photoshoot experience.
To set the stage for this festive theme, I wanted to create a vibrant and playful atmosphere. Previously, I utilized a white backdrop with paper flowers. However, I decided to experiment with a new setup. Inspired by the success of the metallic pink fridge door in our New Year’s Celebration theme, I incorporated it into the “Cupid’s Day” backdrop. This combination of the metallic door and a seamless pink paper backdrop created a dynamic and eye-catching setting.
Valentine’s Day Prop Selection and Preparation
I carefully curated a selection of props to enhance the Valentine’s Day theme. I scoured party stores like Party City, Meijer, and Dollar Tree for inspiration, taking advantage of their seasonal Valentine’s Day decorations. Additionally, I utilized Pinterest to discover creative prop ideas and DIY projects. Over time, I’ve gradually built up a diverse collection of props, including roses, cupid’s bows, a phone shaped like lips, a white picture frame, a DIY “like” sticker prop, hats, scarves, necklaces, and more. Small poms and flower petals were also included, allowing the students to toss or blow them into the air, adding an extra layer of whimsy to the photos.
Capturing Love and Laughter
The “Cupid’s Day” theme proved to be a resounding success with my Student Models. The vibrant backdrop, playful props, and festive atmosphere created a lighthearted and enjoyable experience. I encouraged the students to experiment with different poses and expressions, incorporating the props in creative ways.
Some of the most memorable images are those that authentically capture the students’ personalities. Their genuine smiles, playful interactions with the props, and overall enthusiasm truly shine through in the photographs.
The “Cupid’s Day” theme was relatively easy to organize and execute. This streamlined process made it a rewarding experience for both the students and myself.
The Student Model Program
The program is designed for middle & high school students (6th-12th grades) as a fun way to get their portraits taken by a professional photographer, feel like a model, and have a unique experience.
Students who apply are active on social media and are involved in school activities and their community. They have reliable transportation and have good time management skills to participate in 3 photo shoots a year.
Student Models have special Senior Portrait Pricing, receive cash referrals, exclusive themes, discounts on prints, digital images, products, and mini sessions. They have opportunities to earn Model Points, which can be applied to images or sessions.
The Student Model Program offers a variety of locations, poses, and a mix of individual and group photos with the other models. Student Models also gain confidence and learn time management and communication skills by working with a professional.
