Student Model Photo Shoots

Have you been following along on social media and wonder how you can get photo shoots like your friends or classmates? You’re in the right place! Keep reading to find out how you can joing the Student Model Program too!

About the Student Model Program

This program is designed for teens in middle school and high schoolas a fun way to get their portraits taken by a professional photographer. My goal is to make them feel like a model and create a fun and unique experience while boosting their confidence!

I post photo shoot theme ideas, such as Smoke bombs, Ugly Location, Glam the Dress, etc. and the Students are able to pick and choose which themes they want to participate in. The themes are a little different each year, but we have annual themes that are offered every year, like our holiday themes, Project Beauty and Ionia Free Fair.

We also have themes such as Wildcard, where you come up with the idea and we make it happen! Some people use this for themes that aren’t posted this year. Other’s come up with some unique ideas of their own. We are also introducing Mystery themes. These are more creative themes that I come up with and they might have a higher session fee, depending on the idea. The Student Models also get to particpate in group shoots with other members.

Requirements

There are certain requirements that students have to meet in order to join the program. Such as:

  • Having a Facebook account – most communication is on FB and FB messenger.
  • They must be in middle or high school.
  • Willing to travel to Ionia, Michigan if you don’t live in the county.
  • A signed model release, which must be signed by a parent/guardian.

I also require that all Student Models apply for the program. I take a lot of pride in the program and need to make sure that you’re the right fit.

How to Join the Student Model Program

Step 1: Fill out the application – the button at the bottom of the page will direct you to the application form. There is a Model Release built into the application so a parent/guardian will need to sign it.

Step 2: Watch your email – I’ll be reviewing your application and if you’re accepted, you’ll get a text or FB message from me 2-3 business days after you apply. You’ll be sent 1 email with all the onboarding information, inlcuding a link to the Student Model Dashboard to help you get started.

Step 3: Schedule your Introduction Photoshoot – Your introduction shoot is required to get started in the program. It’s always with a relative (mom/dad, sibling, or grandparent). This shoot is an ice-breaker and helps you become more comforable in front of the camera. I do require that a parent/guardian attends the shoot because I want to build a trusting relationhip with my Student Models and their parents.
